I think that's a New York thing. Down here in Texas everything that goes boom is a gun. And any soda is a Coke.

No, not a New York thing, this is a state of Liberals and everything that goes Boom is a gun to them. This is a gun culture, and military thing. I was taught how to tell a rifle from a shotgun by a WW2 Marine, he was very clear on what was what and what they were called.

Pop is that old guy over there on the porch snoring in his rocker, soda is something rich people in the 40's used to shoot into their drinks to make them bubbly, carbonated soft drinks have always been simply "a cold drink" to me. I remember one old timer who called them all regardless of brand or type , Nehi. Grape Nehi, cola nehi, get me a ginger nehi....
