Savage Enfield

Post by The Feral Machinist »

1944 or 1945 Enfield S No. MK. I*

I couldn't find much info on this Enfield. I know it's made by Savage as a part of the "Lend-Lease" Act of '41. Is this stock an original configuration or a butcher job? The butt plate is definitely zinc or babbitt like it's suppose to be for an American made Enfield. All numbers match and all components have an "S" on them. Any idea of what this rifle is worth?

Unfortunately it has been cut.   I have one just about like that and i think i paid like $70. I have been thinking of getting the parts to return it but it is on the back burner for now. It should look like the other NO. 4 MK1* 8-) 8-)

It has had some bubba work done to it, but this one looks like it can be saved, and brought back to original condition. It looks like you'll need a forestock, both handguards, the front barrel band, the screw for the front barrel band, the front sight protector, and the screw that goes in the front sight protector.

Here's what an original Savage looks like:

As far as value goes, maybe $150 right now. With it complete, more like $250-$300 if the bore is good.
