MOSSBERG 44US-D 22LR

Post by Steve The Pirate »

My dad was kind enough to give me his 22 mossberg recently. Haven't had time to get out to shoot it yet. What little research that i have done, it looks to have a the bells and whistles for that model. Its a 44us-d it is drilled and tapped

it hs the upgraded lyman sight and adjustable front sling. There's some surface rust, but nothing to bad. Some pics :D

I just got a Model 46 M-B given to me that needs some parts to get it shooting.
Found some of the parts with help from this forum and I should be at the range
with it soon if the parts work.

That is a nice rifle. I have a soft spot for .22s.

Received the parts today and got the Mossberg 46 M-B working, who ever took this thing apart sure did not know what they
were doing. Installed a elevator spring and numeric other set screws. trigger adjustment spring was missing and so was the
front and back sight, back sight is almost non existant from what I am told, but I put a scope mount on her for now.
The owner of the gun shop I frequently go to gave me the gun because it was missing so many parts. He took it on a trade
but said he would haven the guy the $ 25.00 discount even without the trade, so for me it worked out fine. I never take turn
down a free gun weather it works or not. I always say if its free its for me. But while I was there I picked up a Marlin 60 for
$130.00 Its a 8-) gun I like .22 a lot. Now I have to get to the range, and also get some pictures.

The Marlin 60 and the Ruger 10/22 have seen a lot of use around here over the years, I bought that 60 used from a local kid who got it as a gift and never used it. One of the better $40 investments I ever made. :)

The wood on your 44US is really beautiful. I bought one from the CMP back in 2008 and (shame on me!) I just got it cleaned up last month (Murphy's Oil Soap and a light rub down with Boiled Linseed Oil). A real tack driver and have shot it the last 4 out of 5 weekends at the range. I just love my rifle and will post pictures shortly.
I am/was a pistol guy but am hooked and smitten by military rifles. Am picking up my first Mosin-Nagant from my FFL tomorrow (we have 7 day wait) and feel like a 5 year old coming down the stairs on Christmas morning!
Will post pics of my 44US. Serial number tells me she was made in August 1944. Enjoy your rifle!

You sound like some friends of mine, big time pistol guys, 1911's and so forth, they never owned a rifle but when I let them shoot my Mosin 91/59 they started fighting over who got to shoot it next :)
