1919 Tula Ordnance Factory [SA] M91
This rifle was produced while Russia was warring within itself. The Russian Civil War lasted from 1917 to 1922 with Bolshevik Red Army being victorious. During this time of turmoil and with the changing of Tula's ownership to Bolshevik forces, production of rifles were lower than in the past. Tula had three different barrel logos in 1919 alone, the "Big Hammer" logo, the "Foremost Tula logo", and the script logo which is extremely scarce.
This particular specimen is the "BIG Hammer" edition and has a 1919 Tula receiver. At some point, this rifle was captured by the Finnish Army, as indicated by the "SA" stamp. It also bears the Finnish "D" stamp which indicates it will accept the Finnish D166 cartridge. The rear sight base was updated to metric increments form arshinii by the Finnish. The rifle contains a mixture of parts; mainly Izhevsk which is common for a Finnish rework. The stock is a wartime Finnish finger jointed stock with Finnish sling hangers.
