1931 Tula Spanish Civil War Dragoon

Post by desdem12 »

Here for your viewing today is a 1931 Tula Dragoon that saw action in the Spanish Civil war. This is evidenced by the Spanish style hangers and the Spanish made cleaning rod, among other traits. The front sight has been changed over to a post and globe likely by the Spanish for reasons long lost to time.
The patina on this rifle is something that pictures can not do justice to and should be experienced first hand. It is a gorgeous dark brownish black (blue).
The stock also has a nice patina and no finish on it save for the loving light coat of lemon oil I put on it. As you can see from the pictures there was a stock cartouche that was scratched out long ago. Notice the cleaning rod end. The rod itself is at least a 1/3 again bigger diameter.
Also noticeable is no numbers match. This is another trait of Spanish used rifles from the Soviets. I have not disassembled this rifle as the removal of the front sling hanger is likely to break it. From what i am told there are not too many that still have the front hanger intact.
