My New RGuns Sniper

Howdy all, first post on this board for me. Nosed around here a few days ago before stopping by RGuns and getting my "new" 1943 Mosin Nagant sniper so I had a better idea of what to look for. Will try posting some pictures, but my apologies for the lousy shots. My good camera has been AWOL for the last month so you'll have to put up with my cell phone pics.

Haven't had a chance to take it out to stretch its legs yet. It's my hope it will prove to be as accurate as my ex-sniper 91/30 that came from RGuns as well. The bore is mirror bright, so with a little luck...

Looks nice so far. You gotta get that other camera and take some more and put them up. Close-ups and the whole rifle.

Thanks for the wevome aboard!

This is my second Mosin. My 91/30 ex-sniper also came from RGuns earlier this year. My timing on that one was quite good - they only had three left. It shoots lights out with Russian surplus, so no complaints from me. The bore in my sniper is as good, so rather hopeful that it will do well. Living within easy driving distance of them does have certain advantages. Although paying Illinois sales tax is NOT one of them. They had five snipers out on the floor when I looked. It was easy to eliminate three of them, but fairly hard to pick between the last two - at least to my noob eye.

Once she gets taken out, I'll post a range report. Will even post some better pics if my camera ever shows up.

You are a good guy. I can tell this because you have great taste in milsurp rifles, but mostly because you understand our need for ar least some form of pictures. Now when you get the camera running I'll be all over your rifles. Would love to see them both. I assume your Rguns ex is a bent bolt model. They are the only ones I have seen that have them. So, are there any other guns in your collection?
Welcome to the forum.

My other Mosin was converted back with the standard straight bolt. They ran out of those within a week of me getting mine earlier this year. I think they still have some of the bent bolt ex-snipers as of a few days ago.

One of the other forums I frequent has a policy of "it didn't happen without pictures". So we've gotten into the habit of including some when possible.

My tastes and modest collection are eclectic. It ranges from a reproduction Remington Revolving Carbine up through AR-15's. Mostly martial arms though there are a few civies sprinkled through it. There are a couple of safe queens, but my primary focus is on shooters.

Welcome aboard!

Nice looking sniper rifle you have. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

The RGUNS bent bolt M91/30's are not "ex sniper" rifles. They are just M91/30's that got a sniper bent bolt put in them. Probably what the arsenal had left over to use. There may be a few ex-snipers in there but, 99.9% of them are just standard M91/30's.

From their AD:
"Standard M91/30 rifle fitted with original sniper turned down bolt handle (designed to allow clearance of the scope when mounted). Comes with sling, bayonet and two cell ammo pouch. Very good to excellent condition. Curio/Relic."

I didn't realize that. I think they charge about 160.00 too!

Finally found my wayward camera. It's been riding around in my buddy's truck for the last 3 months. No wonder it couldn't be found around here! Anyway, took a few additional pics tonight to show some of the other features and markings. Also took a pic with its ex-sniper stablemate.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could tell me what I've got - what's original, what's been changed during rebuild, what some of the markings mean, etc. It's my plan to keep them both for a looong time. Just would like to understand some more of the history behind them. If you want any additional pics or information, just ask!

Thanks everyone.

The R guns snipers are refurbished by the USSR same as all the other M91/30's, and packed away for they war that never was. Think of it this way, you take 20 PU snipers, strip every part off them and pile all the parts together in a heap, clean and oil each one and pile it with like parts until you have piles of 20 of each part on the PU from scope mount to buttplates. You then pick up the first barreled receiver and build it back into a rifle by grabbing the first parts off the piles that come into your hand , and keep doing this until you have 20 complete and working rifles again. The refurb program added the refurbishing of the parts into all that, but the process was essentially the same as I described above, except instead of 20 rifles think of 20,000.
