Well today I got my second Mosin. It’s a 1944 M44 With Matching Numbers. What does the y in the circle mean? See any other marks that are interesting? Special thanks to Longcolt44 who helped me pick one out. I’m very pleased and don’t think I could have found a better one. I’ve already cleaned it and ran boiling water down it. It already seamed cleaner than my first Mosin. Loads the rounds perfect with no proublems. I can’t wait to try it out. Sure is a lot shorter than the 91/30. I really like the feel of it.

Thanks again Longcolt44

Nice. Has character all over it. Is it a laminate? Hard to tell from the pics. :vcool: :vcool: :vcool: :Drool1:

Yes its a Laminate.. I found that the y in the circle means (Oval Y -- Final black powder proof, Russia) What does that mean?

That was nice when I picked it out and now that you cleaned her up it's great. That came from my very own honey hole. I have to say, this man has a great wife. She drove just shy of 400 miles, round trip, to pick up a rifle and 440 rounds of russian ammo for her husband as he couldn't get off work. Now that's a companion.

Ya, thanks she is great. Couple of my guns are in her name because I didn't want to take off work. She has reminded me a few times about that.. lol

Tell her that she should share them - you can shoot them and she can clean them.
(Did not work for me but it is worth a try. )

I'd be happy if she went shooting with me.

Good wife all right! I wouldn't travel 400 miles for anything, that's what a C&R is for :)
