1942 Izhevsk PEM Ex-Sniper

I picked on of these up at a gun show a couple months back and wanted to re-sniper this ex-sniper. I know, some purists are against it, but I'm not trying to fool anybody. The history of a gun is not just the past, but also everything that has happened since. It was a sniper -- that's history, it was un-snipered later on, that is history, and whatever I do with it is also a part of it's history. I digress.
Anyway, I was planning to pick up a repro PEM mount and scope, probably from Accumounts, until I can find/afford and original mount and scope (why are PE/PEM scopes and mounts SOOOoo, much more expensive than PU, anyway?). Accumounts specifies the default mounting screws are 6Mx0.5, but will also ship with 6Mx0.75 or 6Mx1.0 on request. Since I want to be 1) as original as possible, 2) be able to easily drop in an original mount when found, and 3) dont want to run into problems when tapping the screws, should the new screw pitch interacts with only threads, should the weld not be perfect (and it looks like it is not), I was wondering what the original mounting screw pitch was 0.5, 0.75, or 1.0 (I know this one is not the case). I ask because I was under the understanding that the original pitch was 0.75 (at least for the PU), but then why would Accumounts ship it with 0.5? Makes me think that, possibly, the PU and the PE/PEM mounts used different screws?
Any help is much appreciated.
