And yes, it's a 1941 Tula, too
I just got this delivered today. It was my pacifier for not being early enough on that Finned M91 I mentioned a while back. And boy is it fun to shoot! Very light recoil considering. Fed flawlessly until I dampered the gas down some, then I put it back where it was and all was good again. I'll have to wear earplugs AND muffs when I shoot this one again. One of those shots gave my already bad hearing a good crack and my ears are ringing louder than they usually do. So I'd have to say that everything I read about them being loud is true.
It shot about 10" out at 7:00 and I walked it in to where I was hitting a 3" disc every now and then, but when I shot at a Shoot N C only three out of ten hit it. One was in the 10 ring though. The majority of the group was just off the target at 6:00. I'll try again when it's cold and see where it's hitting. Maybe the barrel heating up walked it back down. And I still need to take it apart anyway. I don't want to let the gas valve go uncleaned shooting surplus through it. Lots of fun for sure.

Good eye, Jim. A little rectangle stock repair right on the butt. And yes, it's just as nice here again today as it was yesterday.
Thanks Des. Yep, clean right out of the box. I checked headspace after emailing Websterz to see how to do it on a semi with his Okie ga, checked the barrel, trigger pull, action, loaded some rounds into her and let at it.
For anyone wondering I got this at Liberty Tree. Ordered it last Tuesday. Packaged excellent and looked just like the pics they had up. They're probably still up on their website if anyone wants to see more of it.

I love the stock repairs, the techniques they use to make them, and the story that is sure to have accompanied the original damage.

Very, very nice pacanis, it looks even better in the natural light. I was eyeballing that one and at least it I know went to a good home Liberty Tree are a great place to deal with, I've never had an issue with them They are loud, the muzzle brake helps add to the noise, like a Hakim, neat shock wave when you stand to the side of it when fired

The white bolt is kind of why I bought it, I've seen 2 others like it in person, all the rest I've seen is the refurb plum color. The finish is pretty thin in places, others it's worn away. This particular SVT is a 1941 Izhevsk, [SA] marked Finn capture. The mag is a replacement, the one the rifle came with was badly dented and wouldn't function. I also had to replace the gas piston in it due to corrosion. Other than that, it's been a decent shooter, other than the cleaning of it, which is a little time consuming.
I need to get it back out and take some better lit photos of it, the stock is no where as gorgeous as pacanis's stock though. Damn, that is a pretty stock

Nice A Finn capture to boot.
I detail stripped mine last night and it was a little dirty in the gas piston area, which I expected. I'm hoping the cleaning I gave it will let me dial the adjutment back some so I don't need to run it wide open.

Close it, open it a few clicks and fire, the round should not eject, or the bolt open fully. open another click and fire, do it as many times as needed until the round ejects, that is the proper setting. Filth will certainly cause restrictions in the gas system requiring the value to be opened past were it needs to be.

Use the lowest gas setting necessary for good extraction/ejection. Mine works well on the 1.3 setting, with regular light ball surplus. The empties land between 5 to 10 feet away generally. Also, I've found any lacquer coated stuff will give it a fit.

Almost all Russian SVT40's have been refurbished and it makes the bolt the plumb color. If the bolt is in the white, then you can almost bet it is a Finn captured SVT40. The Finn's didn't refurbish the SVT's like the Russians. So the bolts are natural or white like the were when they were made.
Another 1942 Izhevsk Finn captured rifle.
Notice none of the heavy shellac like on the Russians. This is the original finish.

In 1992 I am standing in the surplus shop we are all talking guns when one guy mentioned that his friend was selling a SVT40 he brought back from Dessert Storm. The response from everyone was the same , SV..what? Little did we know, I don't think anyone pursued it.
