Range report (finally) Yugo SKS

Post by polymerase2 »

Finally took the Yugo SKS I had so much trouble with out to the range for some serious shooting time. I liked the 25 yard target on another thread, so I decided to start over at 25 yards. It shot very well, had two failure to fire out of 60 or so rounds. Each had a light dimple on the primer. It may have been the ammo? I did not have the wedging problem I had described earlier. I suspect that little metal burr in the receiver was the real culprit, the bolt was able to be enough in battery to allow the hammer to fall but it was cocked just enough to prevent the full travel of the firing pin. Trigger is still a bit hard and gritty but improving. Sooner or later some light polishing.
So, you can see some of the 25 yd shots on the target, but, the last 10 shots were at 100yds and I am pleased with the results. Thanks for all of the help. Now if someone can finally help the guy with the M38.

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
