M1 Carbine

An IBM M1 Carbine. The same IBM Corp that is in business today.
Very good bore and the parts appear to match finishwise, but the bayonet lug and rear sight are telltale signs it was rearsenalled, which is probably a good thing, as I like to shoot and enjoy my milsurps and this one shoots great. It's a lot of fun. It came with an aftermarket magazine, which works just fine, but I'm going to order a couple WWII mags from LTC today. Built in 44 or 45 I'm sure it saw action in at least one, if not two or three, other conflicts. IBM did not date their barrels like other manufacturers, but it has the same worn look as the receiver's serial numbers. The muzzle gauges .2

Nice rifle; can't beat an M1 Carbine. I think mine is re-arsenaled as well.

The US government regularly pulls weapons in for refurb no matter if they need it or not. Most carbines were refurbished and upgraded before Korea, or during it, then again after it. These were very popular with our South Vietnamese allies.

TJ, are there any cartouches on your stock? The only mark I can find on mine other than a ding is a vice mark
For all the marks Garands and the 03's had you'd think there'd be something.

No circle P behind the trigger guard? Original stocks do have a cartouche like any US milsurp, left side just under the rear sight in most cases, but many replacement stocks didn't get it.

None that I can find, Jim, but there are a LOT of dings and handling marks on this one. Any faint cartouches could have a couple marks through it camouflaging it.

Yes there is; looks like the standard Winchester cartouche.

My uncle was a marine without a car frame so his came home in pieces . One from the S.Pacific and one from Korea. His wife gave them to his sons who are both active duty Marine Pilots. It's their pride and joy for both of them. My daddy couldn't fit a B-17 in his Bag so I didn't get anything. :D JGC Thanks for the pictures keep them coming

The guy I am thinking of tied a carbine to the frame of his fathers car ( without said father knowing) when they came to pick him up after his discharge in 1953. They drove off without issue, and he still has that carbine today.

Great M1 carbine pics! This little carbine is one of my favorite rifles to shoot.

I can see why they issued this thing to cooks, bottle washers and rear area radio men. These things are so easy to shoot and shoot well, I think anyone could be a good shooter with one of these little jewels in their hands.

It is, that's why I like to start off new shooters with it, or I did until the ammo cost went sky high, now all carbine shooting is reserved for me and the new shooters can have the .22.

I've got 750 rounds coming. I hate when I forget I ordered something
Now I'll have to pick up another Carbine, so I don't put all the wear and tear on just the one :bwink:

The rounds are little more than .357 Magnums, you should be fine :)

Who needs reasons? Just do it " because" :)
