I am really into predator hunting here in Pa... Coyotes, fox, coon, bobcat etc. Many of my friends here that hunt predators use one of the 17 center fires for all predators.. They just don't blow a big hole in them if you want to save the fur. I have two 17 Rems (700 BDL & Encore rifle) and a 17 Fireball Encore rifle..
I like to use the 25 grainers.. Hornady 25 grain HP work great in all my reloads. The factory 17 Rem 25 grainers work great too. I don't use the 20 grain V Max but some of my friends and acquantances do use it! I did get from MidwayUSA some 20 grain Dogtown bullets that are suppose to work great in 17 center fires. I have reloaded some in both calibers but have yet to shoot them for effect!!Did see were Nosler is now selling a 20 grain bullet for reloading too..zMight even be Midways Dogdtown bullets??????????????

The 204 Ruger I ok for coyotes but on fox it rips the pelt... A two new factory caliber that are excellent fox guns are the 17 Hornet and the Winchester 17 Super magnum Rimfire.. Neat that www.eabco.com now sells the 17 Hornet barrel for Encore rifles on the shelf..

I looked at the 17 super magnum rimfire ammo the other day and it looks impressive. It sems like a natural for the Encore.
