Finally got to shoot my two Mosins side by side!

My club has a new site:

So, I went out this morning early and shot both the Mosin-Nagants, m44 and 91/30 to see if they were sighted in, and to see what the differences were.
What I found was that the longer rifle is a lot more pleasant to shoot, and quite a bit more accurate. The m44 jars your teeth and makes your ears ring, even with hearing protection. I also had to drift the front site left to compensate for the folded bayonet.
I shot 20 rounds out of each, and that was about all my shoulder and teeth and ears could handle. I finished by shooting standing at 50 yards, and did well enough to make me confident I could hunt with either gun, but the longer one was easier to shoot.
Finally I shot 50 rounds through the M&P 9c. I love that little pistol. I would have shot another 50, but I got to talking with some of the guys there and lost some time, and then it was getting hot around noon, so I packed it in. Next range over they were shooting silhouetes at 200 yards off hand with Sharps BP rifles.
Sorry no pictures today. I forgot the camera. I just wanted to concentrate on my shooting anyway.
