Pressed steel replacement floorplate, I remember seeing one before on the old forum, but that was years ago, and probably on one of K-H's rifles, I don't recall the details.

Nice TULA you have a $1k rifle there. Look at the fonts on the rifle, you can see they are different and the refurb mark on the scope. refurb on matter where is [/] or [X] I still hate you

no really NICE RIFLE
yep more than likely with that date you have a converted SVT 40 scope, they string vertical and were not good snipers. I still hate u

Hi Mantis and thanks, The rifle itself has no refurbs marks, the scope I'm guessing is original to this rifle (when it was built) as well, it also appears to have only been lighly refurbed as the bluing looks original.
My "guess" is that the 1940 dated SVT scope was refurbished to change the settings from it original configuration to 91/30 PU configuration, remember I said, it's a guess, I really don't know and don't want to put out false information, maybe someone can help with this.
Looking forward to more input, thanks to all so far.

Your right, it's a SVT 40 scope, you can see turn marks on it. Everything after 40 was converted. I have seen SVT scopes on KALINKA, but most are converted. The earlier the scope the more likely it was converted. Means not a thing nice rifle. O I still hate you.

That is a nice rifle. I don't hate you, but if I had a chance to roll you for the rifle, well, I might just have to do it.

I haven't seen wartime guns with such a nice finish on the metal.

It happens, I have some 1943 Tula, and Izhevsk rifles that look rough as hell, and some that are finished as nice as post war rifles, it all depended on what sort of push was going on at the time. Tula always maintained a slightly higher level of finish that Izhevsk during the war.

Most of the little marks are unknown, and will likely remain that way for our lifetimes.

Thanks again, JD.
I did know that many of the stamps/markings have unknown meanings, but I was hoping this one was different since it's so prominent.
I've have little experience with Tula snipers and I didn't know if the L stamp was common place or not and or prevelant on the Tula's, it does seem to be in an unusual location.
