Pietta 1858 New Model Navy .36
I've never owned or fired a BP revolver before and always wanted one. Shot a lot of rifles when I was in Boy Scouts though. This came up in a local hunting forum and thought it was a decent deal. Can't wait to get out and shoot it.

I've been avoiding these up to this point... I don't need another addiction.

I haven't shot mine yet either, but I have all the stuff to do so now.

Nice!
A .36, guy handed me one of these at the flea market five years ago and then asked for $475, it had active rust on it, I thanked the crackhead politely and handed it back. Still plan to add one someday, I have enough .44's

You will want to get a pistol powder measure and some of those wonder wads for .36 caliber. measure powder pour in then wonder wad and bullet on top of that. I use 32 or so grains of fff in a .44 maybe 35 not sure but somewhere in there.

Thanks Brad, I got the FFF part down. Just seems to be a bunch of different powder brands. I need to get a powder measure. Been sifting through Cabelas online looking at everything. Do they recommend the no11's or is that just what you use?

I have heard of someone using no.10s but i have not seen any here so i just use no. 11s i think they are basicly the same cept they might fit the nipples better. I just use 11s and pinch them on the nipples so they will stay on and not fall off and plug up the works. I am not a pyrodex fan so if you can get a couple to try you might consider it. Goex real black powderis good and goex substitute is also good. Not sure if you can get it in FFF but you might. I have seen jim shockeys gold in FFF but have not tried it. I did use american pioneer powder in rifles and it worked in some and was inconsistent in others and seemed to get worse as it got older.

I use Goex real black FFFG in my revolvers, 20 grains like towboater, 15 when I am being cheap with the powder.
