Help with ammo Info

Post by Mitacako »

Hello,
1st post but thought this would be the place to get the correct answer.

I went to by some surplus ammo for my 308 from a guy.Bought the surplus 762x51 but He had a case of "7.62 kiv. s-p i. sid"
Looks to be finnish or may be re-packaged finnish from what info i can find.
I assume its a 300 round case. Its in kind of a wax paper case/box and has wedge shaped boxes inside.
Thought it was neat but now i would like to know what i bought.

Thanks in advance,

Can you post pictures? The more the better. Pics of the box, case, stampings around the primer. Because 7.62×51 is a Nato round there are many variations out there. A lot of these dealers will sell whatever they can get their hands on.

Here are some pic's. From what i can find on line its 7.62 x 54 and seems that it might be more collectable
than shooter ammo.

You bought some really nice ammo, but it is not for your .308 (7.62 x 51). It is definitely rimmed ammo and most likely 7.62 x 54r or the Finn version 7.62 x 53r.
