Remington 1858 .44 cal BP revolver
This is a video of me shooting my Remington 1858 .44 cal black powder revolver and a table top review of it. I think more shooters should give black powder cap and ball revolvers a shot. The price per round is ridiculously cheep and because it takes time to load and clean you take more time when shooting it. It's one of my favorite guns to bring to the range.

Been shootin' them for 30 years, very nice Remmi, they are a blast to shoot.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Just remember to remove , wipe down, and lubricate that cylinder pin every couple of cylinders fired to avoid it's sticking in place due to fouling.

Re: Remington 1858 .44 cal BP revolver
Ya I learned that the hard way after a few outings. It got so bad my second time shooting that i had to take the head off my brass range rod and use it to knock out the pin. Now my only problem is the caps keep falling off into the mechanism. Not sure if it's because i have cheap nipples, not crimping the caps right or what. I'm going to replace all the nipples with new stainless steel ones next week. I'm going to a machine gun shoot on the 14th with ASA. I want to shoot my revolver in-between shooting the full auto guns we're bringing and shooting video for the businesses and my channel just to be different. I'd like it if the gun could preform well that day.Junk Yard Dog wrote:Just remember to remove , wipe down, and lubricate that cylinder pin every couple of cylinders fired to avoid it's sticking in place due to fouling.

I can't remember the name of the company that makes replacement nipples for these, they are made to properly fit the caps much better than the originals. The name will come to me.
