Forecasters are predicting that this one will be mostly a rain-maker delivering up to 5" of rain but with sub-hurricane force winds. I live on the top of a hill, so the rain is not a serious danger for me. Worst case scenario is that it takes out my driveway where it crosses the spring. I just hope that they do not underestimate this one like they did with Michael. It was supposed to be a mild hurricane but hit the coast as a cat V.

What non-Floridians know is the reason that I have stayed in Fl. for over 70 years, is that everytime we have a hurricane, we have a hurricane orgy. Crossing my fingers; it is a valued tradition. ;)

Hey Steve it seems to be tracking more your way than ours. So if yall need to get away before, or after due to no power the front door is always open to you and the missus. There are two guest rooms so yall pick the one you want

What, you don't want to play with our big lizards and enjoy the wind and rain, skeeters, humidity and no seeums? Geesh spoil sport.

Thank you very much, Mike. I think that it is going to miss us as well, it will make its mark 50 to 70 miles East the way it is tracking. We are expecting 30 mph winds and less than 4" of rain.

You live on a hill? That bit just penetrated the mental fog of my daily existence, I thought Florida didn't have hills?

I am 300+ feet above sea level, the Appalachians peter out at my house. Five miles from me are the sand flats that make up the rest of Florida.

Damn 300 feet, yall are in nosebleed and oxygen mask territory. We're only 33 feet above sea level here.

So one day you will own valuable ocean front property, good plan but no taking a blowtorch to the ice caps.

That would be just my damn luck, I don't like the sun, the sand, the salt water or the tourists...

It is 7:00 PM and the rain is starting and we have a little movement in the tree tops. Our worst will be 2-3 AM and it will be over for us by noon tomorrow. I don't expect any problems unless the storm stirs up a tornado. We are predicted to get 2-4" of rain. I just saw a map that showed a town about 70 miles East of here is predicted 12"-16" of rain. That is a lot of water. I will be surprised if we get a 40MPH gust.

That's why you sell for a shitload of money and move to a fortified compound out in the woods someplace with lots of wilderness to hide the bodys of all the tourists who pissed you off.

Steve and I will build our compounds on opposing hills with a nice valley to act as a funnel for the undesirables. Have a nice pond with gators to get rid of the bodies, or make friends with the local pig farmer

Remember you are what you eat so don't contaminate the hog population by feeding them crap or your bacon will taste peculiar. Feed them to the land sharks.

This storm ended up being a non-event for me. We got just a sprinkling of rain and less wind than a standard-issue thunderstorm. I am, however, knocking on wood because it is a long time until the end of November.
