Summer has found a home in the South

Forecast hight temp, tomorrow through Sunday around 99 F. Makes an old man want to stay inside and swill iced tea. The air has been very humid but we haven't had any rain in about ten days so the flora is as dry as a popcorn fart. I watered the front yard today to keep from losing it.
I am beginning hurricane prepping, getting some cracked windows replaced, servicing the generators, making lists and checking them twice, and just stewing and waiting on the inevitable. The weather won't cool down substantially until late Sept. or Oct. then we will have Spring-like weather for the next six months after having perhaps a week of sub-freezing weather to wreck my orchard....again. This year I made one single plum, no citrus, two loquats and my pear trees have tiny fruits that will not amount to anything. The only thing doing well are the wild blueberries.

Welcome to good Ole Florida, huh Steve.
Hell, except for a gunshow run, and doctor's appointments, I've been hiding in the house. Only venturing outside to check mail, take garbage out, feed the fish, or let the dogs out. Lights off in the house, AC set for 68°, watching the idiot box.
There is nothing so important that otherwise requires me to be out in this confounded stifling, sweltering high humidity heat.
Getting grumpier, more heat intolerant, and less forgiving of idiotic tourists the older I get.

Damn yall are just as bad as we are........Climate change or not, here in Florida the summers have become longer, and the winters almost nonexistent. I might have to move somewhere colder and gun friendly, mama won't like it and will tell me to go on my own.

If you live in South Florida, that is true, however, South Florida does not get as hot as it is up here by Georgia. I lived for four years in Miami and there between Atlantic and Gulf, you got breezes, morning and evening, and almost daily afternoon rains that kept things tolerable. Up here, 75 miles inland we don't know what a ocean breeze is, the heat just festers in the surrounding forests. It can be miserable. Anything that I do, outside, now has to be completed before 10 AM. I need to mow right now, and I have been blowing it off for days. It is hard for me to believe that I used to do hard physical labor, every day, for years, in this climate. I have gotten soft in my old age.

You get slower when you get old, you know what they say about the alternative to getting old. Just ask Buddy Holly.
