Just came into this rifle. 1915 Izhevsk. No SA marks, No pine cones, small import mark on barrel end. Splice on buttstock. Serial number with F suffix. Stamped onto stock as well.
Romanian used one?

That is a good looking old warhorse. All history, no bling. I like it!

Cosmoline monster under wood. Bore is nice, just dirty. Passes the ole bullet test in muzzle.
Question on circle c marks. Big c on bolt handle?

Curious did izhevsk use left over chatternault parts?

Stock dated 915r. Under buttplate. So it survived totally intact for most part from original except bolt. Still has the early style ejector too.

Crossbolt on this rifle is almost centered in finger groove and comparing wood to my Chatternault m91 it looks the same. Walnut? Wondering if izhevsk got parts from France to use or if Chatternault assembled any for them. Being 1915 and how things were going.

Does not look like a walnut stock to me. I think Chatellerault would have been out of the picture as far as M91's go by 1915....they ceased production in the 1890's
