Got myself this super nice 1970 late date no maker M39 yesterday. I'm pretty sure this thing saw little to no use after it was assembled in 1970, because it looks like a new rifle. It was made on a 1909 Sestroryetsk receiver. As an added bonus that I didn't see in the photos of it is an "AZ" stamp on the receiver, which I believe is an Austrian marking.

Edit: Anyone know where I can find a correct cleaning rod for it?

One day on the old Pat Burns M39 list I spotted 1967, 1968, 1969, and 1970 and as I didn't see any real nice B barrel or early SAKO in the mix that week I bought all four late dates so I had something coming in that week. Years later I don't regret that purchase.

My current goal is to get one of each late date M39. I've got 1967, 1968, and now 1970. All I need is a 1969, but they seem elusive to me.

Re: Cleaning rod

Have you tried contacting Liberty Tree directly? They sometimes have parts in limited quantities that are not listed on the website. Might try doing the same with Victory Arms and Munitions.

And then there is always the E-Bay rabbit hole
