Finnish M28/30

Post by kpangon »

I finally got hold of a Finnish m28/30 for the collection

Its a 1939 Sako rifle in absolutely beautiful condition. The bluing and stock on it are nearly perfect, leading me to believe that it either didn't see much action or it was refurbished with a new stock after the war at some point.

Anyway here are some photos:

Finally, Here's a photo of it on my gun rack with a M28, and a late production M39

The stock appears to be Finnish Defence Forces replacement stock with "kiväärintukkiöljy" finish.

I figured it was a replacement, since it doesn't have the cartouche on the side of the stock like the M28 in my one photo has.

That is a very nice rifle. I have yet to come by a 28/30 that I was willing to pay for; and they are scarce around here. To the best of my memory, I have seen exactly one at a gun show, eight or ten years ago.

Bought my 28/30 at a flea market in the mid 90's for $45, my first Finn Mosin, didn't even know what it was at the time. Got a lot of trigger time in with that rifle over the years. Nice rifle, bet it cost more than $45!
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
