Can I load .308 SP into a 54r catridge

Hello friends, I am new to reloading. Basically in my country it is impossible to import 7.62 x 54r soft point ammo. I mainly only go deer hunting and FMJ is all that has been available here for years now. I have exhausted every other avenue so this is my last hope. I have Sellier & Bellot 7,62x54R FMJ 180gr ammo. Could I put Prvi Partizan .308 Winchester Ammo 150 Grain Soft Point bullets into the S&B cartridge? I understand Id have to adjust the powder ammount. Ive heard 7.62 mosin bullets are .311 and obviously the Privi SP are .308. Has anyone done this before or can anyone help me with my problem. thank you.

If you have the dies to crimp the neck onto the smaller bullet, you could do it, although I'm not sure how the accuracy would suffer. Can you get just .311 bullets? Not loaded ammo.

Hmm I wouldn't know where to buy .311 SP bullets. I would buy them if I could.

Without knowing all of the laws there, I'm afraid I wont be much help, but a quick google search turned this up. I don't know if you can buy from these people. Good luck.

If you can get ahold of any .303 hunting rounds, those bullets will be .311.

Oh, give me a break... The Irish have been smuggling things in and out of England for a thousand years or more. It is your heritage, son! ;)

Try CDSG Ltd. I think they have what you require.

He is in Ireland. He can't buy from the UK it seems. CDSG is in the UK. I did some research and Ireland seems to have some of the strictest gun laws in the EU.

I'd send them if I could. I sent a guy in England a couple of broken shell extractors one time. He said they were legal, but no one would send them to him. I checked it out and they were. Just a tool like a screwdriver or wrench. I don't want to learn about sending bullets.

Loading .308 bullets won't cause problems except for accuracy maybe. When seating .308 bullets make sure bullet is crimped in. All Mosin bores are not created equal; one of my 7.62x54r rifles has a .309 bore.

all I do is shoot deer from 50 to 100 yards away. I don't do anything else with it. I'll measure my bore

Yes. I reload .303 for my Enfield. I use .311 Sierra Match Kings.

Okay so today I bought 303 British Hornady Soft Points. They measure .311. I have two different types of cartridges, 180 grain Sellier and Bellot fmj and 182 grain PPU fmj cartridges with primers.

I am pretty much a noob when it comes to reloading so what kind of press would I need?
