Finally got my service grade today, ordered it Apr. 01. They marked them SOLD OUT May 08, but committed to filling orders recieved. Mine's a SA made receiver made around July 4th '42. It has a '47 SA barrel. So I'm guessing rearsenaled for the Korean War, then left in the Philippines maybe, isn't that where the last batch came from ? IS this the last of them

???? They are down to rack grade only. Pictures in 3 days.

South Vietnam had a lot of M1's, but we are unlikely to see them returned.

Right, Field grade.

I hadn't looked in while. I read or watched a short video about the stuff coming from the Philippines, and Turkey? It was a CMP video I think. Go ahead and beam it over to this post Mike.

So cool.

How many .30 carbines did the Arvin have in '75 ? Those are now trophies there equal to a G43 or something here. No DOD papers needed, just their existence there is proof of a Vietnam war baby.

The rank and file ARVN got the M1, in some cases the rifle looks bigger than the soldier. Every time I see a picture of ARVN special forces type troops they have the carbine. Lots of both were sent over as well as other US weapons, we were involved over there from 1954 supplying the French, and then the ARVN's until that last chopper left in 1975. Just like the Taliban with all the shit we left for the Afgan army today.

Looks like they could at least pile up extra weapons and thermite them , and anything with a motor set it on fire. Where's the Taliban gonna get belts and hoses for GI equipment ? Scorched earth is what they need.

Like this? Here's some US made M16s, updated and modified by the Vietnamese and still in use.
