soooo close ...

Post by bogozzo »

the mailman (post person ?? ) anyway HE just dropped off a 1942 Izhvesk I bought at auction because it was going relatively cheap at $325. I thought OK - from the pics it looks like it could be at least a great parts gun.

When I unboxed it and checked the info of my other 2 1942's I was amazed that its so close to the SN of one I already have. First one is Cyrillic for g (looks kinda like an r) with a partial second letter that could be the Cyrillic for D, K, or X and then #'s 511(x). The new one is the g and a clear D then numbers 511(x-5). Both are excellent condition, all matching (refurb) #'s except the new one has a restamped floor plate. Pure random chance. Now I have to check all my bayonettes to see if there's a match for either .. wouldn't that be a hoot.

Pictures?
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an
invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, conn a ship, write a
sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the
dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve an
equation, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a
computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
