Hello all!
I’m new to the forum, and new to Mosins. I wish I was born about twenty years sooner so I could have experienced the glory days of having a surplus rifle bug... but here we are. I’m in the market for my first Mosin, and I’d prefer a carbine. Looking forward to your replies!

Hi there, no luck as of yet (mostly due to me being picky, and doing my due diligence).

I was tracking an M44 on Armslist but the guy is either ignoring me, got busy and forgot, or flat out gave me the run around on sending bore pictures. I have texted him several times with a couple days in between, so I'm guessing it's the latter of the three.

steelbuttplate did offer me a solid rifle, and was a really patient and understanding guy when I explained I was on the fence still.

I'm going to a gun show at the end of the month, and I'm hoping to put hands on a few shapes and sizes of Mosins. I've been watching a few sites like Gunbroker, Armslist and Gunboards to guage what the market prices are. From my experience I've been able to snag a better deal at gun shows.

Due to some recent research of mine, I'm leaning more toward the M91/30 now since from what I've read the weight is about the same between the carbine and infantry variant, and the M91/30 is supposed to also be the better balanced of the two? I will change this post title to reflect my wishes.

What do you have in mind racerguy00?
