Lost Carcano

Post by Rowdy1 »

Ordered a Carcano from RTI. Arrived to the UPS store where we get our mail. They gave it to someone else. Filed a police report and notified the ATF. Really pissed.

How the hell do they give the package to the wrong person.....? I mean shouldn't they check the person's ID and scan the package!

How does that happen? Is there no ID needed to claim packages? :vconfused: :no2:
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I picked up at the UPS distribution center, they asked for ID with every pickup, even long after the clerks knew me. UPS stores are private contractors, they have their own rules I suppose. If the gave a firearm to a prohibited person they are likely going to be in deep poop.

That's why anything I get through UPS goes straight to the house. Either I get it or it goes back to the distribution center where I have to go to claim it. Our center requires you to give the item number over the intercom before they let you in the gate. FedEx does the same thing.

I don't blame you for being pissed, my boot would be wedged so far up their ass they would taste Shinola.

Everything they do is electronic, there's a record of where it went. Unless it went home with one of the employees.

Fed -ex brought one of mine to the pawn shop I use for transfers after they closed one evening, and left it with the bowling alley next door. I took about an hour the next morning to figure it out, but I did get it. The UPS store should have a ID and signature for whoever they gave YOUR rifle too.

This UPS store never asks for an ID. Today we are going to check security tapes.

Looks like it would have to be someone you know that knew you were getting it ? How could a stranger know to walk in and ask for a rifle box with your name on it ? Is somebody playing a bad joke ?

In Arizona UPS stores will not accept firearms period sending or receiving, that is not a state regulation it's UPS policy. UPS only accepts or receives firearms at a UPS facility, private UPS stores are not allowed to take them. A firearm is suppose to go to the physical address of the owner when repaired for warranty or the address on a C@R license, I'm surprised it was sent to anyone other than the address on a C@R or government I.D. Antiques firearms must be sent to the physical address of the owner as determined by a government ID thats a federal regulation, firearms really are not suppose to be sent to those private UPS franchise stores.
