sniper rifle help?
hi there, first post here! I just bought my first ever surplus rifle on gunbroker, and I figured I'd ask for your opinions before jumping to conclusions (although I've already bought the rifle lol). it was sold as a sniper rifle, all matching serial numbers, with no scope but a mount installed on the receiver and a muzzle brake(?!) on the barrel. I'm very new to these rifles, so I'm not sure if its normal for a 1935 hex receiver rifle to have these things on it. I'm hoping that I lucked out and its legit, but honestly if its faked at least ill still have a rifle to plink with... let me know what you think!!

Hi!
It's a modern Ukrainian civil conversion, one of the few existing modifications. Some number of them was imported to the USA during past years

interesting! are those modifications done by the Ukrainians something that devalues the rifle, like when a private individual modifies it in their garage? also, what kind of scope went on these mounts? It looks much different from all the usual PU mounts. thanks for the response though!

Just to make sure you understood Ratnik. This is not a military made "sniper rifle". It was done by civilians.
To be a "sniper rifle", it had to be done by the military arsenals or purchased by a military for that purpose. Anything else would be a rifle with a scope added on.

gotcha. do you happen to be familiar with this scope mount by any chance? it'd be nice to find something for it, but again, I'm having trouble finding the equivalent online.

It looks like it is set up to use a PSOP style scope, though the cheek weld has to be pretty hideous.NewToNagants wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 3:57 am gotcha. do you happen to be familiar with this scope mount by any chance? it'd be nice to find something for it, but again, I'm having trouble finding the equivalent online.

Actually, conversion was made by military repair depoy in Nizhyn (circle or hexagon with two cross lines "refurb" marking). Its marking is present on the magazine. So military depot took rifles from storage, and "bubbaed" (I can't call this another way) them according to the civil orders (not a private person orders, it was general order of gun selling company). Exists many modifications. They shortened barrles, added plastic stocks, installed bent bolts and so ondolk wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 4:13 pm Just to make sure you understood Ratnik. And they are pretty expensive at that. I somehow thought that they would cost a lot less in Russia.Ratnik wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 8:35 amActually, conversion was made by military repair depoy in Nizhyn (circle or hexagon with two cross lines "refurb" marking). In Ukraine. Yes, refurbished M91/30 in Ukraine is cost more than the same rifle exported from Ukraine to the US. And in Ukraine it is sold without bayonet ))SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 9:01 amAnd they are pretty expensive at that. thats all awesome info, thank you! I don't think I would have found that info very easily lol. those website links look cool, but I'm a little rusty on my Ukrainian reading skills so I just have to satisfy myself with looking at the pictures lol.
