Because I didn't have one.

Post by Longcolt44 »

The owner of the shop I work at brought in a few AK's he had hoarded away and I had to have this tiger-striped beauty. It's a Century build but the sights are on straight and everything works as it should. As near as we can tell it is about 10 years old but was still new in the box. It has a black plastic pistol grip that I don't like but will be replaced with a light-colored wood one as soon as I can find one. Anybody have one laying around they want to sell?

Now that's purdy

I kind of used the same logic when I got mine. Century too. I caught hell from all the "expert" AK guys but, I'll say this gun shoots great... Milled receiver... Good enough for me...

Cool. What's an " expert" AK guy? This is a rifle that can be hammered out in a cave from old farming implements. Even the most shitty looking ones still tend to function to AK norms. Expert AK guy is a euphemism for Mall Ninja isn't it?

The expert AK guys are the first to stand in line and tell you what a piece of shit you bought.

I found the pistol grip I wanted. Funny while looking, a couple of sources there were warnings of using the correct number of using US parts. It's a friggin' pistol grip folks.

Your black pistol grip is it a US made one, and is your replacement one a Milsurp one?

If so you MIGHT run into issues with the grip screw. You'll have to get a Milsurp one to use the Milsurp pistol grip. Or find a suitable sub at the hardware store.

I'm going the milsurp screw route on mine. Just need to get off my ass and look for one and order it

I traded for a Century WASR 10/63 back in 2012. One of the best trades I've ever done. Congrats on your AKM. They are fun to shoot.

No, not as yet. It's winter in Ohio and my range is frozen and my neighbors wouldn't understand.

I found the wood pistol grip I was looking for. It used the same long screw the old plastic grip used and the wood color matched too. Now if old man winter will go away I can get to the club and shoot it.
