My mosin: can it be restored?

So I had a mosin passed down to me that I've been struggling to identify. I *think* its a dragoon, stamped 1922. Regardless of what it is, I'd like to try and restore it. Not worried about increasing value, this is for personal reasons. Here are some pictures, tell me what you all think!

It’s best left as is, for historical purposes. Keep it and show it for the sporterized that it is.

Looks like a "Finncub". Google that and compare to what you have. Those are rifles that were sporterized commercially en mass long ago for resale. No way to restore it's originality, but they can be good shooters. I'd enjoy it for what it is
It would have been a Tula m91 infantry rifle originally. Tula didn't make the slightly shorter dragoon until 1923.

IF it's a Fincub, then it is more collectable as that then a "sportster". But returning either is not worth the effort. It has been permanently altered. Leave it as it is and shoot the Hell out of it!!

You can't restore it anyway. The sights on the front have been cut and a universal style sight added on. Yes look up the Finncub rifle and compare yours.

No it cannot be restored. The barrel has been cut in length, the front sight has been replaced with an aluminum based one using an old 03 sight for a pin, and sometimes the bolt arm is heated and bent too. As someone above said it was once the length of an m91 model Mosin and once it is cut for a sporter they are what they are. That being said the are fun to shoot in that altered and cut up state and make fine range guns for plinking with the power of a military rifle. One pf those very guns is what started me shooting Mosins many years ago and I still have one in my collection and shoot it from time to time. Value is about $75 to $125 on todays market it may go even higher. Enjoy it and most of all use it at the range or even in hunting. Bill

It was passed down, any idea when or where it was purchased? Sears and wards sold them, if they had stamped the store brand on them I think they would be more collectible. Wards is gone and the CEO is pushing Sears over the cliff so HD can buy what’s left at the bottom of the hill.

Ward's is not gone, the name is still being used on a small catalog. They keep sending me the catalog four or five times a year, but I never buy anything. Like Sears, Ward's tried to survive by loading the shelves with cheap Chinese made crap, back then it would have been Taiwan also. Craftsman used to be good quality, now it's Chinese made and they try to hide it by putting the country of origin on the packaging in tiny print, but not on the tools themselves.

Black & Decker is a subsidiary of Stanley-Black& Decker, they merged in 2010, and bought Craftsman tools in 2017. The list of tool company's and small appliance names owned by this conglomerate is a long one. Mac tools, Proto ( the legendary Plomb tools) the French Facom to name a few. They do still make some tools here in the USA, and promise to bring back more for the craftsman brand once the contracts Sears initiated while still owning Craftsman expire.
