This publicity photo of Roza Shanina shows her holding a sniper rifle with a scope showing wear around the adjustments. What jumped out to me was the knife in her belt, a prop no doubt, but it looks like a modern Buck Hunter.

The knife is for the Germans that were just wounded. Any survivors sang soprano for the rest of their lives.
Do a search for NKVD Finka knife. You can still buy a reproduction.

She was probably a man hater. That is the look she had when she splattered some German officer's brains across hell's half acre.

Smile for the camera Roza, and remember....the BOSS is always watching. Yea, hero today, one screwup later and it's the Gulag, or the punishment battalion, and that was the same as death. It's amazing any of these people got out of that time period sane.

Twenty million didn’t, that’s more than the population of all of the State of New York! maybe half of those were after the war.

She surely did not get out of it alive. Karma has a way of dealing with snipers.

Karma has a way of dealing with fucking nazi socialists. Roza died at 20 , caught in a mortar barrage and fatally wounded. She was credited with taking 59 nazi`s with her. The top female sniper who survived the war was credited with 502 kills.

Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko [a] (née Belova ; 12 July 1916 – 10 October 1974) was a Soviet sniper in the Red Army during World War II, credited with 309 kills. She is regarded as one of the top military snipers of all time and the most successful female sniper in history.
The 309 number is still amazing, even when you consider that the Soviets probably padded the numbers for propaganda purposes. She survived the war, and was certainly one of the lucky ones.
Three out of four Soviet female snipers were killed during the war.
Three of the most talked about snipers of today are Simo Hayha, Carlos Hathcock and Chris Kyle. Hayha was badly disfigured, Hathcock was severely burned and tossed out of the military, due to his injuries, shortly before becoming eligible for a retirement pension, and we all know what happened to Kyle.
I don't believe in Karma, fate or other such superstitious nonsense, but the fate or snipers may indeed be considered "Karmic."

John W. "Jack" Hinson, "Old Jack" (1807–1874) is known to Civil War historians as a citizen-hero of the South.
He is credited with as many as 100 kills with a Kentucky long rifle he had made , 50 caliber, 41 inch barrel.

Bomber crews during WW2 likely killed hundreds, possibly thousand's of people, Paul Tibbets killed tens of thousands yet lived a long life so I don't think that karma thing was messing with him any.

Piloting a plane at 10,000 feet, pushing buttons and returning to base for a beer and a game of darts never seeing a person or their suffering is rather clinical and it is quite different than looking a man in the face waiting for the precise second to blow his brains out. It is a totally different kind of warfare and soldier. I realize it takes all kinds to fight a war, however If I had a choice of a next door neighbor, I would prefer the pilot over the sniper. It doesn't have to make sense, it is just a personal thing.

Being a bomber crew member was not a walk in the park either, just some stats.
Bomber Command aircrews suffered a high casualty rate: of a total of 125,000 aircrew, 57,205 were killed (a 46 percent death rate), a further 8,403 were wounded in action and 9,838 became prisoners of war. Therefore, a total of 75,446 airmen (60 percent of operational airmen) were killed, wounded or taken prisoner.

But, dead is dead. How you killed them is really irrelevant. If it were so, then Hitler would have little to pay because he killed very few with his own hands. If you are going to believe in Karma, then you have to believe that Karma knows what the hell the truth is.
I don't believe in Karma. "Karma" is a way for some to explain things. I find it comes up short all the time. Like people such as Manson. And a dozens of other really bad people that lived to an old age.
