Question: 91/30 Sniper Scope Base

Post by Markratz1 »

Picked up a 1944 Tula Sniper (RGuns Import) last week for $450.00, I feel blessed.

Any thoughts on whether the scope base should have stamped numbers?
Mine has the 2 Cyrillic characters and three digit serial number, same as receiver.
I have read that this may be a post war addition, Thoughts?

Man I wish I lived in the States! Here in Australia my ‘43 Izhevsk PU set me back US$1,400! For what it’s worth mine is a TOZ export with no markings on the scope base.

When you say "base", are you talking about

The base?

Or the mount?

The mount will have both serial numbers and scope numbers on it.

The base will not have serial oe scope numbers. May have inspection and arsenal marks.

Here is my mount on my RGUNS sniper rifle.

Pics of major components, scope looks like a SVT scope based on Alex's book.

Looks like a correct 44 Tula PU with a Tula Mount and the correct stamped Tula magazine Floor plate, and 44 Tula stamped stock.. It's also a R-Guns import and the import mark is in the correct location for an R-Guns legit PU import sir.

Congrats on a very desirable 44 Tula PU sniper .

Thanks. I manage a gun store/gun range as a secondary job in the Chicago suburbs and it was a walk in last week.
I'm a big collector of Soviet WW2 field gear, so my jaw dropped when I saw it. Now I'm waiting for a nice wartime TT33.

Those rifles sold for around $900 from RGUNS when they first started selling them. $800 for a Izhevsk. Little more if the rifle was all matching (maybe another $100). When they first came out, you had no choice. What came out of the crate next was your rifle. All the same price. Then they changed over to you could pick arsenal till they ran out of Tulas. But basically, they are all the same rifle. No more rare then the one next to it.
