Need info on a M1907 that I own.

Post by Billytheked »

So I own a Mosin. I was told it was a sporter'd when I got itfrom my friend. Then, this same friend of mine told me it was a M1907. The guy he got it from had the original stock on it but it was cracked. So he put it in a synthetic Monte Carlo stock. It's in pretty good shape over all. I was wondering how much it was worth. I can get pics for you. Any help is appreciated.

No way to make that determination without a lot more information and a lot of good quality pictures showing all markings and the rifle from all sides. If it is a 1907 carbine then the crap modern stock will put a serious dent in it's value.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I agree. The modern stock would lower the value 75% to 90% in my opinion. The cracked stock would be no big deal if it is still around and would bring the value back up to over $2000, if in decent condition (and if it is really a M1907 carbine.) Be sure of the ID of the Mosin and get back with your friend and find the original stock.

Is it an Imperial, hex receiver carbine ? I've had people swear that a rifle with a bayonet lug made '45 , was a M-38

Kinda looks like it, but that would be a pretty in depth troll. To what end?

Trying to get a rise out of mentioning an M1907 and putting it in a synthetic stock.

It didn't get much of a rise. No pics it hasn't happened.

I don't come here a lot, but when I do I see a post like this every now and then. Why do they do things like this? I sometimes wonder if they're like 30-40 years old and still living in their parents' basement. :chuckles:

Or maybe they have a Carcano with a synthetic stock and don't know the difference. :facepalm1:

This is why I rarely comment till we have good pictures. If there were a way to do it I would make them mandatory before they are able to post. This is coming from a guy who doesn't take pictures too remember. Bill :o

It would appear. But I keep checking the thread, hoping a busy fellow really does have a m1907 in a plastic stock. Still nifty.
