Restruck receiver?

Hi all,
I have a rifle en route that, from the photos, looks to have a 1899 Tula tang hex receiver but a 1930s Izhevsk re-stamp. Anyone else seen this before? This one is also a triple date MO. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Aaron

Cool, waiting see what the smart people have to say. I've never seen one, but that doesn't mean much either.

Probably happened when they made it a 91/30. Ishevsk used a '99 Tula receiver.

Yup. The 1899 Tula receiver was reused in 1930. Happened quite a bit.

They did not waste good receivers, receivers are expensive and the commies were always short on funds. Receivers were reused over and over.

This looks like the rifle I was watching on GunBroker recently. I think it was a 1930 too. I just couldn't justify the price the guy wanted but he would deal a little. Not much though. I noticed the other day it was gone. I really like there re-struck receivers. Very cool.

Restruck receivers are cool, different, but not special to the point of deserving a higher price over any other receiver. All a restruck receiver represents is the commies being thrifty, not just the commies as the Finns did it also with every singe rifle they built. Having more than ten reused receivers among my commie rifles the commie bastards were thrifty a lot.

It's important to emphasize what markings or features are rare and desirable over those that may be cool but are common and not deserving a price hike because of it. Once sellers think they should be getting paid more because some cheap commie reused a receiver on their rifle, and someone pays the increase then the entire market starts with that shit. Cool, yes, special, no, do not pay people more money because the rifle has an older reused receiver. Would you pay more for a new car with an older high mileage used engine in it?

Barrels get damaged or worn out. The receivers are tough and survive. Labor was cheap, materials expensive so thrift was necessary. It deserves a "that's interesting", but not another fifty bucks.

Thanks All, it's also a triple-date and in very nice shape. Very good pre-war stok, strong rifling, near (or) zero muzzle erosion and shiny bolt. I'd toss another $50 at one like that if it meant I got it.

And yes it was recently on Gunbroker, got to be the same one. Likely a permanent member of my herd now.

You're talking about a refurb and almost anything can go in that case. As far as price it depends on where your collection is heading, If you like oddities maybe you'll pay more for one of these? If not it won't ring your bell and you'll overlook it. Very personal choice I would say. Bill

You are quite right Bill, so much of this stuff is subjective. I have bought rifles that no one else would bother to give a second look because I liked it, I wanted it, and I had the money to buy it. When I made my comment, I had forgotten that it was a triple date, that would have surely gotten my attention in person, and I would have shelled out a few more bucks for it. I sincerely hope the OP enjoys his new rifle.
Confession time. I have a 42 Hex that was obviously completed in a hurry as it has a struck out, mis-stamped date digdit. It was my first Mosin-Nagant, and is still one of my favorites. I bought a Remington M-91 because the serial number was my birthdate....I bought a Balkin M-91 because it has both the old Izhevsk bow and a Tula hammer on the receiver. None of those rifles mean crap to anyone but me.
So yes, it is subjective and there is nothing wrong with that.
