My "YouTube find" rope hole rifle showed up in the mail today and I was very excited to rip open the box, ha! This is my 3rd rope hole rifle, but by first all matching example. Only set me back $450 shipped.

It's an 11th series in the 90,000 range. It has a few interesting features to it:

-Still have a receiver with the dust cover grooves intact. I have another 11th series rope hole about 1,000 numbers away that has no grooves.
-Bolt has a long style extractor
-Rear barrel band is the type without a rear swivel base. My other 11th series rope hole have the type with a base for a swivel, but never had one installed
-Two nail, thick wooden butt plate

Looks like it's been in a closet for years. I'll just give a bit of oil and call it good. Overall I'm very excited to have a matching example. Now I'll just need to find one with a mum....haha!

That is a "last ditch"???

What is a "rope hole"??? They use a rope as a sling???

Don't know a lot about Arisaka rifles.I own one, but havn't even shot it.
Not sure what I have really. http://www.thedolk.com/Arisaka/index.html
