Nagat Revolvers on Buds....

Post by z31jaime »

Not sure if this should go in this section, but I was looking on buds and clicked on the mosin nagant rifles and then got a pop up for matching revolvers....

I don't know much about the Rifles, so seeing this is completly odd to me, anyone care to fill me in? are they good? I assume 7.62 x38R is going to kick like a mule.

These were the standard issue from 1895 till who knows. They are severly underpowered but good as a expensive plinker. They are a interesting piece and you should have one for your collection. These are the gas seal revolvers everyone is talking about that have 50 pound double action pull. They are around $100 at most distributors but the price may be going up. :D

It's a Red Army sidearm, and they look good displayed with the Mosin. They will shoot just fine, but the only ammo that will work as designed with this revolver is the original gas seal cartridge. It's available, but expensive.

They are a nice revolver. Ammo price is the kicker and it seems to me there would be/ should be more surplus available? They do make a nice companion piece to the Mosins as JYD states, so I hope to get a 30's era and a 40's era Tula eventually. Had a nice '37 Tula with original wood grips a couple years ago, but things happen, so need to replace it. And I do have a couple hundred rounds on hand still anyway. :)

These are neat little guns. They have a heavy double action trigger pull but the single action is pretty good. They do smooth out a bit after you use them for a while. I've had my 1944 Tula for a while now and when I can afford it I take it out and shoot a box through it. Great guns and for the price, even though the ammo is costly, they are still worth it.

There's quite a few places that have had these recently. $129 is a bit high. AIM has them for $99.95 right now and if you look here there's a few places that have them. http://gun-deals.com/index.php?dealtype ... 8&subcat=5
Here's a few places to get ammo if you decide to get one also. http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=7.62+Nagant

I've seen them on Aim Surplus for 100 bucks. But it seemed that ammo would be a pain to deal with, so I decided against it.

I've bought two in the last couple of months. Due to recent imports there seems to be a good amount of them around. I think ammo manufacturers will see a niche and start pumping some more out. Several places have ammo for about $22 per 50.

Got mine from S.O.G. for $99 last year and it is in awesome shape. Ammo is expensive but I have heard you can shoot 32long or 32mag out of them with no issue. I myself have not tried it but it is something to look into.

I would not shoot .32 mag, some people have shot .32 short or long, it ruins the cases and accuracy will suck due to the lack of a gas seal. The revolver has a sizable cylinder gap without it's proper cartridge. They do make a .32acp conversion cylinder for these, fitting is required, and if you think the original round is weak, try the .32acp in these :)
