I've never seen an sks stock like this before.. it looks like the cut out is smaller than where the original screws would have been. Is it possible this is how it was made??

I have never seen this type sling attachment on any SKS. More info may help some, maker, year and more pictures of it.

If I had to make a crapshoot guess guess..based off the sling and the look of the wood, my first thought is it's Chinese. But, I would like to see more photos, the bottom of the butt stock, right side, even rifle manufacturing marks..the works.

Chinese can have the wire sling hangers on the side of the butt stock or on the bottom of the butt stock..it's dependent on the era it was made. One curiosity is I have, is if it has the cleaning kit hole in the stock, and the usual smaller lightening hole or were they plugged. If you look up an East German SKS, it is the only one that has a stock sling slot cut into the butt stock, somewhat similar to the K98, this... looks more like a copy of the M1 Carbine rear sling slot, which I don't see any Communist nation using.

I would say..in my opinion, that that is not a arsenal job, if by what ever chance it is..it is a one off, and of course, there is a very slight chance it's a troop field mod, but... it's awfully clean, square, straight and smooth for a knife hack job. There have been some oddities seen in the Middle East, they cobble the strangest things together, there is always that very small chance as well..

But, there are to many what if's....and my gut says... blame bubba.. :?

Are there no marks or stamps on it?

No, no markings or stamp. It is on a Chinese military sks. I seen it at the gun show and took a picture of it. My first thought was German stock but when I picked it up I suspected bubba, but I'm unsure because it if was bubba it was done a very long time ago but seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Anyways I thought it was interesting so when we could not agree on a price I SK if I could take a few photos of it. It was all matching except the mag no import markings but he would not budge from $500 I was not budging from $300.
