Thinking about picking up this rifle, haven't agreed or found a price yet. Appears to be a 1942 Tula with a rough receiver. Owner thinks it's a romanian PU.

Very interesting rifle to say the least.

Just checked flat headed screws are on fakes only, they are supposed to be domed

Update, its an early century arms import, imported with the scope mount and put together with a scope. Seems to all be legit parts not paying more then 900 for it.

I think the importers serial number with an S designates it as imported as a sniper. M9130S01234

It's a fake, legit scope , repop mount, on a 42 -91/30, not an ex-PU, and nothing about it is Romanian.

I find that interesting because the import mark would be under the scope mount if it was a fake?

Also, it has the S in the importer serial number designating it as importing with the mount why would they assemble it like that in ukraine?

If you ask a question and get feedback from a major player in the sniper market you should listen. Like MT said, it's your money. Century was famous for making "snipers" from the parts bin.

Just keep looking and in the mean time go to the top of the page and click on the MOSIN SNIPER RIFLE and commit it to memory then hit every auction, gun show and forum sale pages. Then take pictures and ask MT or DOLK again.

I honestly think ill pick up this rifle anyways, the mount isnt a crappy aluminium one and the scope is nice and the rifle is nice aswell. Maybe i can get it for much cheapee knowing it iant 100% legit. Thanks for the info guys.

Yeah it's milled, but the milling marks are on the wrong filping side, but again it's your money.

I agree completely. Fake sniper rifle. No matter how much you want it to be, it never will be real.

IF the import marks are under the mount, then ....it is a fake sniper. .......BUT, it doesn't mean that if the import marks are not under the mount that it is automatically real.

Only thing real about that is the scope as far as I can see.

Barrel shanks and receivers are never that "rough" on a sniper rifle. You see that on rough finish on a standard M91/30's, but not snipers.

Again, there is nothing about it that says "Romanian" on that rifle.
