Mossberg scope

I posted recently that I was looking for screws to mount my scope on my 44 Mossberg.
Well I gave upon finding them so I made a set that would work. I wound up taking 2
10x32 cap screws and sanding the sides of the cap just enough to take the groves off.
It took a little time with the drimel tool but it worked great. Didn't have to cut much
off the length, maybe two threads.

Nice, I have a few Mossberg's. If yours is a US44 here are some dates for you. To my knowledge they didn't keep civilian numbers like this.
M44US dates:
1/21/1943: 100,001-114,500
3/1/1943: 114,501-121,500
5/1/1943: 121,501-131,880, 134,998-135,000
10/15/1943: 135,591-138,921
1/31/1944: 139,922-152,448
8/31/1944: 152,449-165,648
1/3/1945: 165,649-177,948

long colt, my 44 is in the140xxx range. The crosshairs are a little skewed but I got it leveled up. Not new but it works ok.
Mine is a us44, it was d&t at the factory. +dhic aka cliff

Hey I have wanted a 44 US for the past 10 years ever since shooting next to a guy that had one. He was printing some nice tight little groups too with the peep sight. Today I found one finally. I should have it in a week or so. Can't wait to post it up.

Sometimes, at some point, a little fabrication I think is justified. A screw, a front sight pin, a wrist bolt, if you can't find an original watcha gonna do? Hang it on the wall with the others?

Thanks for posting that! I have been looking for a mount screw for years; I figured making one might be a lot of work.
