Gun store score, 1917 M91 PTG

Post by Remiel »

So I had to take my daughter to the doctors and I decided to stop by the local mom and pop gun store. He had a M91 on the shelf listed as a french made Mosin, well a good once over and some searching on7.62x54r.net and it turned out to be a 1917 Tula Peter the great and appears to be a Balkan capture, it's a mix master but all there(hand guard, cleaning rod, sling) and id in very good shape, it passes the No-Go gauge and is not counterbored with a good muzzle. I gave them the 325.00( I know probably too much)walked away with it. I also scored about 390rds of M2 ball and tracer on belts for 150.00 (Den 42 & TW45). now I have to give the wife her due

will add pictures later

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Given that refurbished M91/30's are going for around $300 now paying $325 for an M91 is not bad.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Yup, for a Balkan, that looks good and was at a pretty good price as well. Make sure to give us all a range report!
