I looked at what im pretty sure was a 1891 carcano long rifle today . FIAT was marked on the receiver .Did they manufacture the 1891.I was able to find a picture of this stamping on a moschetto 1919 dated rifle said it was rare is this true on the 1891 too. Sorry cant remember any other markings over all condition of rifle was around 65% price 250- 275 ish and a 4 hour drive to look at it again . Dont know much about carcanos. Do you thing it would be worth going back to get. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

I read that all 1919 marked Carcanos were assembled from leftover parts and rebuilt rifles. 1919 I do not believe is an uncommon date. However being marked FIAT does seem to be uncommon. There is only one in the survey marked FIAT. Would I drive 4 hrs for a Carcano? No. Would I spend $250 on one in good condition and have it shipped for $30? Yes.
