Nice 5 line Tula, did you check the date on the bottom tang of the receiver? I have a 1924 Izhevsk ex-dragoon that was built on a 1899 Izhevsk receiver.

The receiver, bolt, and back plate all match.. The bayonet does not... As a newbie, I"m going to have a professional gun smith inspect it... I wondering what the best non-corrosive 7.62x54r ammo?

Does the floor plate also match? Finding these 5-line '25's is getting kind of difficult any more. Beautiful refurb stock on this rifle. Make sure you clean it thoroughly before you fire it. There are lots of videos on this site on "how to's". You should review them. If you know someone with an Okie headspace gauge, it might be a good idea to check the headspace. See the videos. Good luck and nice gun

I uploaded a few photos of the inner receiver.. Wondering if it looks normal?

I think the small notch at the head of the bolt that move from 2 o'clock to 5 o'clock (bolt open to bolt locked) has that small space on the receiver to mate up with...

Everything looks good. Check the headspace, check the firing pin protrusion, make sure there is nothing blocking the barrel and go shoot it.

Nice rifle!
Gorgeous stock.
It could be the twin of my '27.
Now I'll have to go check the tang date. I don't think I ever looked at it...

I order the head space tools from Okie. I happen to have 5 7.62x54r dummy rounds (snap caps). All 5 fit fine, all feed in the chamber and extract like a charm.. Bolt closed with dummy round fine. So I hope the head space tool will so the space it not too large..

UPDATE: well Ivan passed the GO and NO GO Like gauge tests.. So now time to shoot... Firing pin is OK that test as well.

Hi Michkal, I noticed nobody answered your best non corrosive ammo question. Really the answer may differ from one rifle to the next, but if you have access to Cabela's or look online the Prvi Partisan has been good for me and the brass is valuable to save for reloading or to sell.

Welcome to Mosins by the way. And to vintage rifle shooting. Oh, and to the forum.
