Bullet shaving

Just started loading for the Mosin. Anyway my bullets are .3115. My case expander is .309. This is the 303 expander. Is there a larger expander. Most of the time the case is shaving lead from the bullet when seating.
I bought this Easy X expander but it's just a touch to small. It is the one I am supposed to use for the Mosin.
Part SE2358 for product RGB DIE 303 BRITISH (Code=90882), PACESETTER 303 BRITISH (Code=90547)
thanks

I have RCBS 7.62x54r dies which included both expanders for .308 and .311. I am using the larger one.

This may sound kinda dumb but do you know the diameter of the larger expander? The stock Lee 303 runs .306. The one they suggest runs .309 so I need one larger than .309. Do you have the part number?
thanks

Call Lee. IIRC they offer a larger expander, but do not include it in the standard set. I like my Lee stuff,(.303, 6.5x55, 8mm), but this looks like an oversight to me.

Maybe this will help. I've used it for FMJ successfully.

Bill is correct. The Lee expander is perfect for lead cast bullets to prevent shaving.

Yep thanks. I didn't think they made an expanding die for rifles. Just goes to show right. I think that is the ticket. I noticed if I deberr the inside of the mouth just a bit more than normal I can reduce the shavings. This tool may be the way to go. I don't need much just a tad.
thanks guys

Well got the expander the other day and got a chance to load a few 7.62x54r's up. The expander is without a dough the way to go. Worked perfectly. I expect this will make a big difference in accuracy and consistency. Thanks for the tip. I'll let ya know how they work out.

Excellent. I was quite pleased with it when I bought mine too.

I use the Lee Universal Expander for all of my lead cast bullets for my rifles. It works great, give it a try I think it will fix your problem.

Well accuracy is still pretty bad with having a hard time hitting an 8x10 target at 50 yards. Now to be fair PPU's didn't do badly at all but my hand loads aren't even close. I was also using "The Load" using Unique at grains from 8-11. It just may not work in the m44. I'll load some "normal" loads and see what happens. I was trying to keep the recoil down and save a bit on powder. Forty or so grains each shot gets expensive. LOL
Anyone lnow the velocity of the PPU's. What seems to work in your m44's.
thanks

I use .308 on tight bores and .311's for the others. If you use Lee, you can get a larger expander for your case sizing die from Lee for free, except the postage. If you can't find it online, just call them which is what I did.
