PPU Brass

Post by ffuries »

Over the next few weeks we will be doing some shooting......Yes a range trip. Going to be taking out a British Enfield, M91, M9/30, M44, Gew 88, M24-47, and a MAS-36. These are confirmed, might bring a few others out. Going to be using commercial ammo, so that I don't have to deal with corrosive ammo clean-up, and with the high humidity. This way I can enjoy shooting and do the cleaning at home later that evening.

So my question is PPU brass reloadable? If so is there a market, need, use for the once fired brass?

We will have the following brass all made by PPU when we are done. I will keep the brass in their cardboard boxes and let it build up some then offer it up here if there is an interest! I have never reloaded, and at this point have no plans on doing it!

Yes and yes, PPU is reloadable, they sell just the empty brass also. Once fired PPU would find a home with someone.

I would be interested in any of those except the French 7.5.

I only reload shot shells but I've read where others have commented here and on other forums that
PPU brass is some of the best they have used. I plan on reloading metallic cartridges one day, probably
after I retire.

PPU is good brass. If you're into obsolete military cartridge reloading, for certain cartridges PPU is the only factory option. They've created a niche market in obsolete military cartridges such as Carcano, Lebel, Jap, etc.

I bought 100 rounds of once fired 8mm PPU brass at the gun show for 10 dollars and was tickled pink. Honestly I'd give you 25 bucks for another hundred 8mm cases.

I have reloaded, or assisted in reloading, PPU, Norma, Hornady, Remington, Sellier and Bellot, Federal, PMC, LC, and Winchester brass, and so far, from what I have seen, PPU is (weirdly) the most consistent, just my 2cents.

PPU brass is some of the best reloading brass I've ever used. It has very uniform primer pockets that have just the right amount of tension. And they stand up to many reloads. I especially like their .300 Win. Mag. brass.

6 boxes of PPU 7.62x52r 182 gr Match FMJBT arrived at the house today, it looks beautiful! Annealed necks, large rifle primers [boxer]. My plan is to reload these with the 180 grain 303 Sierra Hot-Cor SP [.311 diameter]... still debating what powder to try first.

I agree, use it all the time and it stands up well for many many reloads.

I would be interested in some 7.62x54R. I have reloaded it with great results before. If you have some to spare let me know.
