I just got my first laminated stock today! Mosin #5 is alive Went to take it apart to clean it, but the stock is stuck on. The muzzle end rises about an inch up from the stock, but the tang only moves up maybe a millimeter. I tried rocking it, pushing on the trigger, etc but it would not budge. It seems maybe to be rotating about where the trigger pin is? Maybe the pin slid over, froze in place, and is catching on the stock? Anybody seen anything like that? Any thoughts/tricks/tips on getting the barrel off?

They stick sometimes, I remove the bands and entire triggerguard/magazine assembly, flip the rifle over and use a wood dowel to tap against the bottom of the receiver with the bolt installed back in to the receiver.

Just don't force anything. Good luck.

pour some oil around the action also, or lemon oil furniture polish.

Picked up the lemon oil and gave a couple of light taps to the bolt, and presto! *THANKS* Junk Yard Dog!

P.S. Love TR. Read his autobiography and several biographies. The "Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" was one of my favorites. Such a remarkable man. Love that he got the Peace Prize for negotiating the end of the Russo-Japanese War where Mosins were used obviously.

He wrote something like 30 books, all of them worth reading, he lived an adventure filled life. He was awarded the MOH in the 1990's, Politics kept it from him in his lifetime. Glad you got the rifle sorted out
