1954 As-issued Tula

Post by Cj556 »

I picked this one up the other day after a bathroom break at Cabelas. Saw it on the rack and for a Cabelas price it was reasonable. All matching, bronze tint bayonet, properly marked stock, crown in-the-white and in nice shape overall. My second non refurb Russian this year and the first was a 1958 letter gun.

Sold a few of these non-refurb 1954 dated guns for a local FFL in 2014. They ranged from $950 - $1,200.

You found a deal!

Thank you Matt. I have seen three other 54 non refurb Tulas over the past year in my travels and aside from the 58 letter gun no I have seen no other non refurbs. Was 54 a high production year?

Yes, there are a lot of '54 Tula SKS carbines, in comparison to other years. It is also the one which is most commonly found as original matching/unissued condition.
