Why doesn't the Yugo SKS have marking like the Russians. I just got a Yugo SKS and was shocked that the only marking were the serial numbers both stamped and pen were on it. Just wondering

Re: Yugo SKS
Because it's made in Yugoslavia, not the Soviet Union, and that's not the only difference between Yugo and Soviet SKS rifles.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I realize where it was made but there is no import marks no national seal no date just the seral number. The mosin that I have have stamps all over them.

Re: Yugo SKS
Most of these were still current issue in Yugoslavia prior to 1968 when US law mandated all imported firearms be import marked. I am not aware of Yugoslavia sending any SKS rifles to North Vietnam, Iraq, or any of the other garden spots were US troops might have captured one and brought it home without an import mark. The mark might be very small, small enough that you need to magnify it to see it. It's possible the importer may have forgotten to import mark it but unlikely. What model Yugo SKS do you have? Pictures?

If you are in Canada or otherwise outside of the USA then the import mark would not be there unless it had passed through the US first .

Re: Yugo SKS
Unrelated to the above, is it just me or are the current batches of yugo great money wise? I know many of you will remind me of the prices of this stuff at a time when I wasn't old enough to buy my own rifles, but wouldn't you rather have a yugo for the current prices than what a commonChinese sks goes for?
