These M-38/44 Straps, Finnish/Russian If you search that on ebay, or Liberty has them. They don't have metal, just leather and thongs that are reindeer hide if I'm right. Oil up the leather part good and they soften, put em back and tie nice square knots, they the best they is. Also will work on long Mosins... :2cents: .

Yes, I have a few of them on the carbines, they work well.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yep that them. You got yours tied in bows, and they will get snagged in the thickets of Northern Guntucky, and your gun will fall off your shoulder. Tie 'em in square knots in a proficient military manner :furious: . If ye want to.

Have 2. Yes very dry to start, used Beans leather treatment, not a oil. Very soft, square knots. First used with 91/30s. Now on Finn. all purpose canvas bags. To carry ammo to range. Can sling over shoulder unlike cans.

There seems to be two sizes, wide and wider. There's also a kind like these but with buckles on the end, they look great on a Finn or M-91. These were probably used for bandages, splints, hanging Germans, many uses. :shifty:
