This little tidbit was cited on another forum when someone asked about "Combat Shotguns". I found it interesting reading. It is a pdf copy of OCTOBER 1997 THE ARMY LAWYER • DA PAM 27-50-299. The part about shotguns starts on page 16. I found the rest of it interesting, too.
So the next time someones says "Shotguns are illegal for war, they violate the Geneva Convention, or the Hague Accords" drop this on them:

These are my Combat Shotguns; The Ithaca is the HD gun, the 870 is the SHTF/Civil Unrest shotgun. (The AK is my main gun for that.
