I have noticed that almost any Finn has gone for stupid prices lately. Most of the time it was new or newer buyers. Some of the sellers have gone nuts also.

So far I've stuck to my strategy of not exceeding $450 and it's paid off. Just got the VKT M/39 and M/24 Bohler both matching both less than $450. It took me a long time to find the M/24. You are right though I have seen some high prices lately. The only Finns that ever go under $300 seem to be the M/27 and M/91.

I think all those Finns classic sold got them into the hands of those new to the field. Now people need 1 or 2 and regret not buying each variation. I was new to the m39. Got a sako vkt and plum b barrel. Regret those I didn't buy at the time.

I have moved away from the high priced Finns, and am looking at other items now. It has just gotten so out of line lately.

Smart marketing move huh! Let others take the heat and spend the advertisement money and you send little tidbits out there to cull the big bucks from time to time. That in turn raises the fever of the new buyers to spend ridiculous amounts. I have a few M39's I am missing but Thank heaven my cheap butt has most of what I want. I look elsewhere at different fields and money is flowing there too. I worry about what things will be worth for the next generation of collectors though. Bill :o

Yeah, I've noticed that they only sell ones on an antique receiver in Gunbroker.

For the record, I've never bid beyond a certain point which was why I was so shocked I won my 1943 Sk.Y. M39 last month since people have been going bidding crazy of late.

 Seems like everything is going for stupid prices lately. And many to newer bidders that just love to get into bidding wars.

Lately all Burns has been selling is Antiques. In the past they have sold non antiques as well. The sale to Classic and selling only antiques likely has to do with pressure from the ATF. My FFL in NJ had ATF ask to see all transactions involving Burns only months prior to Classic Sale.

I doubt ATF said or did anything. More likly Pat (the Mother) is getting older now and wanted the money more then the rifles and business. So they sold them off maybe keeping some of the antiques for the son to sell off. That entire deal with Burns selling the M39's was OK'd by the old ATF when they got into troubles years ago and lost their FFL license. Now, if they were AR15's or AK's, then they would have been screwing with them. But M39's...no.

To this point it has been a steady income for the Burn's. Now, maybe steady is not what they want anymore. Cash in the hand is always more appealing.

I'm just relaying what my FFL told me. They came in and requested to see all transactions from Burns. I don't think they were too happy with her selling her "personal collection" without a license.

The Burn's have been selling those rifles without a license (as a collection) for years now. This is not something new here. What got my eye a year or so back was.....They were selling Mosins also. Where did they get those from....and re-selling them? Now that could get the BATF's attention. I'm not sure how they bought them. I can see how they sold them to a licensed FFL dealer. Now if they sold them to someone without a FFL license, then they are in trouble. So perhaps that is why they got rid of all but the "antiques" so there was no discrepancies. But still more likely they wanted their money out of them. They have had them for many years now and their money locked up in them a long time.

Burns had a lot more that just M39 years ago, I bought many 91/30's and various M38's from them more than a decade ago. I recall Aztec Arms imported 91/30 refurbs in the mix as well as Romanian well used 91/30's and lots of M91's both Finn and not.

My first purchase from Burns in around 2005 or 6 were two Enfields. I'm almost sure that Burns had more than M39's in the collection.
